Paid Summer Internship.

About the Council

The Fiscal Council is an independent statutory body. It is responsible for giving an honest and independent assessment of how the Government is managing the public finances and the economy.

Job Description

This summer, we have an exciting opportunity for two summer interns.

The interns will collaborate on part of the Council’s next Long-term Sustainability Report. The Council’s first such report was one of its most influential pieces of work. It explored how Ireland’s economy would develop over the coming decades and some of the key policy choices likely to be faced.

The project will involve the two interns working together, with dedicated support from the Council’s staff. They will explore existing work in this space, and help commence new demographic and population projections. The interns will be listed as authors on this important publication.

Interns will come away from the project with experience of what it is like to work in a professional organisation developing high-impact research with direct policy implications.

The internships are temporary posts lasting up to twelve weeks and attract a stipend of €571.04 per week, based on the current Clerical Officer scale. The Council also supports remote working. It operates a coordinated hybrid working solution, which is highly flexible.

Specific dates will primarily be based on candidates’ availability.

We will select a panel of candidates for any appointment.

Closing date

The closing date for applications is midnight on Monday, 3rd March 2025.

The Irish Fiscal Advisory Council is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to selecting candidates on the basis of merit.
